Right angle beam bender
The new Right angle beam bender reduces the effective length of the laser from 22cm to 3cm, an 85% reduction.
This means that many concave areas can be lased without difficulty.
Some options include the groin area, armpits and ears.
It also means the laser can be rested on a horizontal surface, eg a patient bed and the beam directed upwards. See sketch below.
The laser in the illustration is placed below the knee with the right angle beam bender attached and the dosage set.
Once the laser is turned on, the beam will be on until the set energy is delivered. For example, for a 4 square cm area, at 1 J/square cm, time will be 4 x 1 x 10 or 40 sec.
The advantage is that when the patient lies on the bed, laser does not need to be held for lasing certain areas of the body.
As the exit beam is 27 mm in diameter, it should be used for laser therapy, ie large area applications.
